ZF Services UK, the UK after sales business unit of the global driveline and chassis technology company ZF Friedrichshafen AG, has opened a new Technical Training Centre to meet growing demand from distributors and customers for its expertise. The centre, at Crick, Northamptonshire, comprises a classroom and fully equipped workshop with ramps, ZF-Testman diagnostic equipment and specialised tools, plus a variety of vehicles for practical demonstrations and for technicians to work on.

Forge Motorsport has released details of its latest dump valve (or blow-off valve) for all BMW 135 Turbo models that have the electronically controlled bypass valves fitted. The product was engineered to solve a problem that can occur on tuned models with increased boost pressure. Forge calls it a “useful ‘belt and braces’ measure” for any car running hard in a warmer climate. Failure of the stock valve can happen under either set of circumstances.

Pirelli’s Diablo Supercorsa SP will be fitted to the new Ducati 1299 Panigale, 1299 Panigale S and Panigale R as original equipment in 120/70 ZR17 (front) and 200/55 ZR17 (rear). The Italian tyre manufacturer says the tyre represents technologies developed as a result of Pirelli’s racing experience and heritage as sole supplier of the World Superbike Championship since 2004. It has been reported that the government is set for further expenditure on speed cameras for the motorway network. Currently the cameras, which are positioned on the M25 and use digital technology, are designed to catch motorists breaking the 70 mph speed limit.
SMMT figures show that 1,528,148 cars weremanufactured in the UK in 2014 – a 1.2 per cent increase on the previous year and the best year since 2007. The SMMT says that UK engine manufacturing output returned to growth in December, rising 6.7 per cent. However, output fell 6.2 per cent over the year, following retooling at a number of facilities, although the outlook is bright, thanks to major investments into UK engine manufacturing.
