CITExpo opens at Everbright for final time, previews move to modern facility
The 2015 edition of the China International Tire Expo opened Wednesday in Shanghai, with around 350 exhibitors – the show’s most ever. The sustained growth represented by these numbers has led to the decision by organiser Reliable International Exhibition Services to transfer CITExpo to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center (SWEECC), built in the centre of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo site. The show also boasts strong continuity, with around 80 per cent of 2014 exhibitors back in 2015, according to Reliable; in past years the organiser has come to expect a similar proportion of its customers booking their space for the following year during CITExpo.

Pirelli Scorpion ATR increases versatility for high performance specialist
Largely associated with premium road products as a leader in the 17 inch-plus segment, Pirelli’s focus on developing tyres with high performance vehicle manufacturers encompasses a selection of tyres designed for 4×4 vehicles. The Scorpion ATR is the manufacturer’s solution for all-terrain usage in performance SUVs.
Dakar involvement bolsters Cooper’s 4×4 tyre strength
Cooper can lay claim to being a leading brand within the 4×4 tyre market, with one of the stronger ranges of any manufacturer. Its tyres are selected for many applications, with the world’s most gruelling off-road endurance event, the Dakar Rally, perhaps the most notable for the challenge it presents to rubber. Cooper tyres are utilised by rally legends such as Xavi Foj, whose team is supported by the brand; links such as this help the manufacturer to underline its presence within this segment. Foj used the Discoverer S/T Maxx to take a podium finish in Buenos Aires this January, in what was the Spanish driver’s 25th Dakar Rally.

Maxxis, Nexen and Matador help Stapleton’s secure strong niche supplies
The expansion of the four-wheel drive market has resulted in an increased choice of tyres, as manufacturers launch products to service the needs of retailers and consumers across the UK, wholesaler Stapleton’s states. This creates a window of opportunity as well as a challenge for the tyre retailer: a fast-growing market for high quality replacement tyres, and a wider breadth of stock required to cope with the specialist sector. This, Stapleton’s says, is where the wholesaler comes in.
Giti 4×4 mud-terrain tyre in grassroots success, as manufacturer builds SUV range
Giti Tire has focused largely on the lucrative European SUV/crossover market in 2015 with size extensions and product launches across three brands to be joined by a new GT Radial tyre later in the month. At the same time, the manufacturer’s existing Adventuro M/T has helped one of the brand’s Leeds dealers to enjoy some grassroots motorsport success, demonstrating its mud terrain capabilities.
Yokohama Geolandar offers all-terrain, winter fitments
While Yokohama’s flagship Advan brand provides high performance for on-road SUVs, such as the AMG version of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and Audi Q7, for which it is the original equipment fitment, its Geolandar range also has models to suit the off-road adventurer.
Micheldever celebrating General Tire milestones in 2015
General Tire turns 100 years old in 2015, and the Continental-owned brand will mark its centenary with its UK distributor Micheldever with an event at Jaguar Land Rover’s Gaydon facility later in the year. The partnership between General and its distributor is itself celebrating a landmark year.

Pirelli will sponsor the ‘Prestige & Performance’ competition at this year’s Salon Privé event, welcoming to the judging panel renowned car expert Tiff Needell. The inaugural Pirelli Prestige & Performance competition will take place on the final day of Salon Privé, Saturday September 5, at Blenheim Palace and will celebrate supercar models from 1975 through to the present day.

Enjoy Tyre to diversify Rotalla 4×4 range in 2016
Contract tyre manufacturer Enjoy Tyre’s Rotalla and Routeway brands offer a range of 4×4 tyres geared towards the SUV, highway end of the market. The manufacturer will venture further off-road next year, it told Tyres & Accessories, when it launches its new Rotalla RF11 A/T pattern.
