Each of its latest products “use European requirements as a benchmark,” it added, “and have a clear focus on safety.” Its most important exhibit will be the latest Kenda ultra-high performance Emera A1summer tyre, which is designed to produce excellent handling on dry and wet roads with outstanding braking performance. Messe Essen, the organisers of the biennial Reifen event, looks likely to bow out gracefully at the end of an era represented by this year’s show. In the last Essen-hosted show ahead of its “trailblazing” move alongside Frankfurt’s Automechanika show in September 2018, or retreat in the face of Koelnmesse’s rival Tire Cologne show (see the April edition of Tyres & Accessories for complete details of the move, then delete as you see fit), the 24 to 27 May show will host 675 exhibitors, presenting their innovations for the tyre sector. This, Messe Essen states, represents a new record number of exhibitors in Reifen’s decades-long history. The organisers have also notched up another record with regard to the exhibition area: Reifen 2016 will occupy just over 60,000sqm of exhibition space.

May 2016’s Reifen show coincides with Heuver’s 50th anniversary; a conjunction that will enable the international wholesaler to mark this significant date in style. Heuver will thus highlight its anniversary over the course of the week from its Hall 2 stand (E42), from which it will also be showcasing Aeolus products, for which it is the exclusive distributor in eight European countries – a fact the company describes as “the icing on the cake.” Heuver added that its many brands for international markets will be represented by account managers from all countries on its stand.
International garage equipment manufacturer Bright will launch its latest premium tyre changer at Reifen 2016, where the company will make a comprehensive exhibition of its range. ChemChina’s Aeolus Tyre will exhibit in Hall 3 at Reifen 2016 (stand A45), with a larger booth than in 2014 displaying its major product ranges. Thomas Wohlgemuth, European sales and marketing manager at Aeolus Western Europe (Consumer Tyres), is looking forward to the exhibition: “What we will show our international customers is a future-proof company with a clear strategic direction. We would also like to further establish ourselves as a strong and reliable commercial partner.”
A key marketing component of Cooper Tire Europe’s sporting sponsorships has been its Precision Challenge videos. In two previous instalments, the tyre manufacturer challenged players from Arsenal, to whom Cooper is the Official Tyre partner, to hit targets made of tyres. In the third such challenge, Cooper brings together drivers from the World Rallycross Championship, for which it is the exclusive tyre supplier, and three more Arsenal stars to compete in another difficult test of accuracy.
Granutech-Saturn Systems, manufacturer of the Saturn brand of industrial and mobile tyre shredders, has launched a new refiner mill. The machine features sealed roller bearings for greater tolerances in processing material down to 80 mesh. The company will bring its latest machine to Reifen 2016 (Hall GA- Stand 114), where visitors can learn more about the new machine and the company’s complete tyre recycling systems.
Euro Car Parts (ECP), the leading distributor of car parts, has opened its new Londonderry branch, employing 19 new members of staff to strengthen its delivery service across Northern Ireland.
Launch UK has introduced a new automatic transmission cleaner and fluid exchanger, the CAT-501S, to its wide product range. The CAT-501S comes supplied with a comprehensive range of adapters, allowing connection to most automotive transmission units, including double clutch and CVT types.
Midwest Motor Factors, part of Arnold Clark Automobiles Ltd, has joined automotive trading group Groupauto. All operations will join Groupauto with immediate effect.
Clarke has introduced a new range of heavy duty petrol driven pressure washers, built for tough daily use by garages, fleet operators, contractors and more. The PLS 195 and PLS 265 models have a tough protective steel frame, folding handles for compact storage and pneumatic tyres for easy mobility on uneven ground.
Existing lab tests designed to ensure emission limits are met have been shown to be inadequate and this is why the UK has secured a tough new Europe-wide ‘real driving emissions’ test. From next year, vehicles will have to meet emissions limits in real driving conditions across a wide range of typical operating temperatures. This will improve consumer confidence in manufacturers. The UK will be working to ensure that the new rules for real driving emissions and type approval are robust, deliver the expected outcomes and that manufacturers behave consistently.
