Vodafone and Continental introduce digital tyre monitoring platform
Continental and Vodafone are promoting a new digital tyre monitoring platform, ContiConnect. The companies are using the Internet of Things (IoT) to connect commercial vehicle fleets to the digital tyre monitoring platform to improve road safety and vehicle efficiencies. ContiConnect is currently deployed in US, Canada, Malaysia and Thailand with more markets in Europe and Asia to follow in 2018 and next year.
Garage of the Year 2018 now open for entries
Independent garages from across the UK are being urged to enter Automechanika Birmingham’s renowned ‘Garage of the Year’ awards which is now open for entries, celebrating the unsung heroes of the aftermarket.

European new car sales hit 10-year high
“It is positive to see that demand for new cars in Europe grew by +3.4 per cent in 2017 and reached a 10-year high of 15.6 million units sold”, said Sue Robinson, Director of the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), which represents franchised car and commercial vehicle retailers in the UK, commenting on the latest figures by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).

Pre-registrations adversely affected motorcycle sales in 2017, says NMDA

NFDA raises concerns over lorry cheat devices found in DVSA checks
The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) Commercial Vehicle division has raised its concerns following findings that one in 13 lorries tested by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) have been found to be fitted with an emissions cheat device following roadside checks.
