ChinaGRTAE exhibition in Guangrao to open on 15 May, 2024

The 14th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE) will be held on 15-17 May. The three-day exhibition has more than 780 booths covering eight categories, including tyres, wheels, rubber tyre machinery and equipment, raw rubber materials, automobile repair and maintenance, and automobile accessories. In addition to tyre manufacturers such as Hengfeng and Huasheng, upstream and downstream companies such as Solprima, Xingda Steel Cord, and JD.com will also appear at the 2024 Guangrao tyre exhibition.

Guangrao Tire Exhibition (GRTAE) postponed

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, and in order to protect the health of exhibitors, visitors and partners the 11th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (referred to as China GRTAE 2020), which was originally scheduled to be held at Guangrao International Expo Center, Shandong from 15-17 May has been rescheduled for 8-10 September 2020.

Sailun Jinyu joins Cooper Tire in GRT joint venture

In 2016, Cooper Tire & Rubber invested some US$93 million to acquire a 65 per cent shareholding in Qingdao Ge Rui Da Rubber Co., Ltd (GRT). The remaining 35 per cent share in the China-based truck and bus radial manufacturing operation was retained by Qingdao Yiyuan Investment Co., Ltd. (QYI), however QYI is now selling its stake in the business. Sailun Jinyu Group Co., Ltd. has signed a share transfer agreement with QYI to acquire its 35 per cent interest in GRT for RMB 220 million (£24.4 million, US$32.0 million), subject to government approval.

Cooper completes GRT shareholding purchase

Cooper Tire & Rubber has completed its purchase of a 65 per cent interest in China-based Qingdao Ge Rui Da Rubber Co., Ltd. (GRT). GRT produces truck and bus radial tyres for global markets and will manufacture these to meet Cooper’s customer needs in North America, as well as in Asia and other markets. In the future, passenger car tyres may also be manufactured at the one-million-square-foot GRT facility, which has room for further expansion.

Thai tyre show GRTE set for 3rd edition

The third edition of GRTE 2016 (the Global Rubber, Latex & Tire Expo) will be held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre between 9 and 11 March 2016 in Thailand in association with China United Rubber Corporation (CURC). According to the event’s organisers TechnoBiz, GRTE aims to be “a special meeting point for rubber, latex and tyre industries around the world”.

Huasheng Group to start Cambodia tyre factory project in 2024

The Dongying, Shandong Province-based Huasheng Group is planning to add a Cambodia tyre production plant to its portfolio of five factories. While there are few details at the moment, the even-lower-than-Chinese production costs paired with the company’s desire to increase tyre export sales are said to be the main motivations behind the move. Tyres & Accessories met company representatives during the recent GuangRao Tire and Rubber Auto Accessory Exhibition, which took place between 15 and 17 May in Dongying where the company had no less than five generously proportioned stands exhibiting its range of car, 4x4, light truck as well as truck and bus tyres.

EV tyre sector leading the race to recovery: Comparing recent developments in the Chinese and European tyre markets

During our recent visit to China, on the sidelines of the GRTAE expo hosted in what can only be described as the tyre capital of the People’s Republic, Tyres & Accessories enjoyed a panel discussion with Car and Tire editor, Alex Shi. Formerly an executive within the tyre industry – including time with Goodyear – Car and Tires focuses on business-to-business communications and is particularly strong when it comes to tyre testing and in the social media space. Indeed, they are something of a force online, with some 300,000 followers on WeChat, which is a bit like WhatsApp is here in the West. True to form, not only was our discussion hosted in the main meeting room at GRTAE, it was also video recorded and streamed live to a potential of hundreds of thousands of Chinese-language followers in the East. Beginning with the current state of the respective Chinese and European tyre markets in light of recent macro-economic market trends, our discussion then moved onto the similarities and differences between the European and Chinese online tyre sectors (see part two).

Dongying authorities launch tyre brand promotion campaign in Thailand

In two months, the 14th Guangrao Tyre Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE) is about to open. As a result, this county in Shandong, China, has once again become the focus of discussion in China’s tyre industry. From May 15 to 17 more than 780 companies are expected to participate in this exhibition. Tyrepress China has learnt that the foreign trade department of Guangrao County recently held an overseas promotion campaign for the Shandong tyre brand in Thailand.
