Sri Lanka to combat tyre imports with affordable local production

A meeting between Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Trade and representatives from the local tyre manufacturers’ association took place on 31 December with the aim of strengthening the domestic tyre industry. Wasantha Samarasinghe, the recently appointed Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, states that the parties discussed options for reviving local tyre production as well as options for supplying consumers with high quality, affordable tyres.
