Pirelli sticks with softest F1 tyre compound trio for three more grands prix

Pirelli will supply the same selection of compounds for all three grands prix of Emilia-Romagna, Monaco and Canada: the C3 as P Zero White hard, C4 as P Zero Yellow medium and C5 as P Zero Red soft. While these nominations are identical to the 2023 season – the compounds themselves have remained the same – the three softest compounds were never put to the test in Imola last year, since the event was cancelled at the last minute due to flooding.
In 2022, the only time the 18” Pirellis have been used at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, the available compounds were the C2 as Hard, the C3 as Medium and the C4 as Soft. This year’s event, from 17 to 19 May will reveal if the softer approach will produce a wider range of strategy choices than in past years, on a track where overtaking is notoriously rather complicated.
For Monaco and Montreal, the softer compounds were the obvious choice given the smooth asphalt to be found at these two street circuits, and this approach has been tried and tested over the past few years.
