The Dunlop RoadSmart IV has been recognised by leading German magazine Motorrad as ‘Very Good’ in the publication’s latest motorcycle tyre test. The sports touring tyre was praised in particular for its feedback on country roads in the 06/2024 issue test, which tried out six tyres in sizes 120/70ZR17 (front) and 180/55ZR17 (rear) on a BMW R 1250 RS. The latest test follows similarly strong results in 2022 and 2023 tests. The same tyre won Motorrad’s 2022 touring tyre test in the same dimensions, while the tyre’s 19” front tyre long-distance touring specifications impressed last year.
Motorrad’s testers noted: “The special distinguishing feature of the Dunlop is its very light-footed handling… sporty riders will be impressed by the good grip and, at higher speeds, by the good feedback.”
The RoadSmart IV also impressed in wet conditions: “Grip in the wet combined with light-footed handling results in good lap times in the wet test. The limit area is announced early, the traction is above average and makes it an easy-to-assess tire in bad weather.”
This dry and wet weather performance combined to earn Dunlop the magazine’s ‘Kauftipp’ (‘purchase recommendation’) rating for “country roads and everyday life.”
Roberto Finetti, marketing manager, Dunlop Motorcycle Europe, said: “This test success for Dunlop RoadSmart IV by one of Europe’s best regarded motorcycle magazines underlines the capabilities of our premium sports touring offering. RoadSmart IV is designed for a wide variety of bikes, with a particular focus on providing reliable and confidence-inspiring feedback on European roads when riding every day or on long distance road trips.”
