Finland, Germany amongst main markets for Russian tyres

According to Russian petrochemical industry information centre Rupec, two European Union countries were amongst the top foreign recipients of Russian tyres in 2022-2023. Rupec reports that the main foreign markets for these products in monetary terms were Kazakhstan (19%), Finland (13%), Germany (11%) and Belarus (10%). The overall share of tyres in Russian exports for the period 2022-2023 was approximately two per cent.
“The statistics reflect the high performance of the first quarter of 2022, when the enterprises localised in Russia were operating virtually at full capacity and provided the main export supplies. First of all, we are talking about the plant in Vsevolozhsk, owned by Finland’s Nokian Tyres, as well as capacities in Kaluga (Continental). In 2022, most of the economic chains were interrupted, and tyre exports decreased significantly in the following periods, so even at the end of two years, the share of supplies to Finland and Germany was significant,” says Rupec analyst Dmitry Semyagin.
