Yokohama tyres OE on new Toyota Yaris Cross

Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. is supplying its BluEarth-XT AE61 tyres as original equipment (OE) to Toyota Motor Corporation for use on the new Yaris Cross compact SUV , which was launched in Thailand in October 2023 and will be available in international markets, but not Japan. The Yaris Cross is being fitted with 215/60R17 96H and 215/55R18 95V size tyres.

The BluEarth-XT AE61 is a summer tyre developed specifically for use on crossover urban SUVs. Yokohama reports that the tyre contributes to high steering stability via its specially tuned profile, in addition to the advantages of its lightweight design and further reduced rolling resistance. The performance of the tyre was achieved using a proprietary system to predict the values of key tyre characteristics based on Yokohama’s proprietary HAICoLab AI-based development framework.

In addition to the Yokohama tyre fitment, promotional photography clearly shows Goodyear 215/50 R18 92V tyres fitted to the Hybrid 130 version of the Yaris Cross.

Furthermore, the Premiere Edition of the new Yaris Cross is offered with “exclusive new 18-inch dark grey/machined five-spoke alloy wheels” in order to “enhance the dynamic, rugged look.”
