Peter Duckworth dies

NTDA Honorary Life Member Peter Duckworth died on Friday 23 February 2024 whilst on holiday in Gran Canaria. Tyres & Accessories learnt of Peter Duckworth’s passing via NTDA chief executive Stefan Hay, who gave this tribute:
“…Peter was one of the most genuine, kindest, funniest and entertaining men I ever had the privilege to meet. He was a true Master of the Round and Black, a Tyre Man to the core and a loyal NTDA supporter and friend to so many in our trade. I have already been inundated with phone calls and emails from members and other trade colleagues, all of whom have a wonderful story to share about Peter!
“He is remembered, not only for his tireless commitment to the NTDA and in particular his chairmanship of the North West and North Wales Region from 1995 – 2004, initially under the banner of Peter Duckworth Tyres Ltd and then RH Claydon Ltd, but also as the founder of the Tyre Wholesalers Association, and, on its merger with the NTDA, as the first President of the NTDA’s Tyre Wholesalers Group.
Peter Duckworth was installed as an Honorary Life Member of the NTDA in 2005 for his outstanding service to the association and remained involved by regularly attending the annual dinner and tyre industry golf day.
Our sincerest sympathies to Peter’s wife Anne and the extended Duckworth family.
