New Yokohama truck tyre range offers CV operators more choice for better mileage

Yokohama has introduced its latest comprehensive range of truck and bus tyres to the UK. The manufacturer’s commercial vehicle tyre lines, which are distributed nationally by wholesaler RH Claydon, have undergone a “significant expansion” alongside an extended service offering. The range has been designed using Yokohama’s latest innovative technologies to help commercial vehicle and fleet operators get the best return from their tyre investments, helping to overcome several key challenges such as extending mileage, making wear more even, and lowering maintenance costs.

“We’re incredibly excited to introduce our truck tyre range to commercial vehicle operators in the UK,” comments Yokohama UK commercial director, Karl Naylor. “Already proven in other markets around the world, the tyres cover a wide range of applications and provide users with a host of benefits designed to improve their own performance and reduce operating costs.”

Regional applications

While the comprehensive range will be available to cover all the major commercial vehicle applications, Yokohama’s flagship products for national and regional operations are already in stock and available to order for evaluation purposes or immediate fleet deployment.

The Yokohama 124R pattern for steer axles, (or 124RA all position pattern in 17.5” and 19.5”), has tread features to improve life and traction, including grooves and sipes specifically designed to reduce premature shoulder step down and uneven wear, stone ejectors and rigid shoulder ribs to aid straight line stability.

The 704R drive axle tyre has a variety of design elements to aid mileage and traction – extra wide directional tread, high rigidity blocks and a newly developed compound all contribute to even wear, long tread life and improve traction particularly in wet and cold conditions.

Yokohama’s RY357 trailer tyre with 5-rib tread design is developed for even wear and wet traction with resistance to shoulder wear and the casing is specially designed to be well-suited for retreading.

Other applications

In addition to its tyres for national/regional operations, the Yokohama range features products which excel in On/Off road applications, long haul operations, coach and city bus fleets.

Yokohama’s range of truck and bus tyres are being distributed across the UK by RH Claydon giving nationwide coverage through their nine regional distribution hubs, and rapid delivery to service providers and both regional and national fleets.
