Giti Tire names new CSO

Giti Tire has announced the appointment of Dr Pang Chong Hau as the company’s Chief Sustainability Officer. Dr Pang is based at Giti’s global headquarters in Singapore and brings a wealth of experience in sustainability to his new position, having led the development of sustainable procurement frameworks and initiated key green projects in his previous roles.
Under Dr Pang’s leadership, Giti Tire is “set to accelerate” its sustainability efforts, focusing on operational optimisation, technology adoption, and nature-based solutions. By empowering every employee with the knowledge and tools to contribute to their sustainability goals, Giti Tire believes it is not just aiming for compliance but “striving to set new standards in the tyre industry for environmental stewardship.”
Thanks to Lean Sigma Black Belt certification and qualification as a Chartered Environmentalist, Giti Tire considers Dr Pang “uniquely positioned” to apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to the company’s sustainability efforts. “I am thrilled to lead Giti Tire’s sustainability journey,” he states. “My aim is to inspire every employee to leverage their expertise in the tyre industry by integrating sustainability practices into their roles and providing them with the necessary knowledge to effectively accomplish our sustainability goals within specified timeframes. This includes targeting a 30 per cent reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030 and attaining Net Zero emissions by 2050 through operational optimisation, technology adoption, and nature-based solutions.”
Giti’s Progress and Future Path
As proof that its strides toward a more sustainable future are yielding results, Giti Tire highlights its attainment of the EcoVadis Gold Award. This recognition positions the company among the top five per cent in the tyre industry for sustainability, showcasing a collective effort from headquarters to factory operations. It underscores Giti’s steadfast dedication to fostering beneficial environmental, social, and governance outcomes.
Furthermore, the company’s Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) grade on Climate Change of B- and Supplier Engagement grade of B- demonstrates a approach to addressing climate change and sustainable growth along the production process.
