5 new ContiRoad sizes

Continental has broadened the ContiRoad sport touring tyre range with sizes bikes between 125cc and 300cc, and will introduce five new dimensions by the end of Q2 2024. The newcomers are 17-inch front tyres in sizes 100/80 and 110/70, and as 17-inch rear tyres in three sizes: 130/70 and 140 /70 and 150/60.

The under 300 cc bike category is particularly popular as these machines offer economy, efficiency and adaptability, and is attracting more and more riders in Europe as well as Asia, North and South America. Continental says that in these new cross-ply sizes, ContiRoad “perfectly masters the balancing act between sporty driving and driving pleasure in all weather conditions in everyday life.”

The tyre maker says the tyre’s silica compound offers particularly good wet grip and thus more safety on wet roads. The tread design is adopted from the larger radial tyres in the range and optimised for high mileage. Continental adds that it designed the casing and contour for “playful handling” while delivering stability at higher speeds, even with maximum load. A short warm-up phase also contributes to this.

“Our five new diagonal tyres guarantee easy accessibility and driving pleasure in equal measure,” comments Gonasagren Nair, product manager for Motorcycle Tires at Continental. “The ContiRoad also provides a direct driving feeling when things need to be more dynamic on the home circuit.” Continental credits this to the ”carefully coordinated interaction between profile, construction and compound” that results in a “very sporty running surface that creates an ideal connection between mileage, stability, and self-damping.”
