Sailun Group joins SBTi

Membership in the Justice League? Not quite, or not yet – but Sailun Group has joined several organisations and initiatives dedicated to doing good in recent times. The company confirms that it is now a member of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). It also recently became the first Chinese tyre maker to join the United Nations Global Compact.
SBTi is a collaboration between the CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It aims to assist companies in setting climate science-based greenhouse gas emission reduction targets aligned with the Paris Agreement. As of the end of 2023, 7,154 companies worldwide have participated in SBTi, infusing corporate strength in global climate governance.
In future, Sailun Group says it will establish emission reduction targets and implementation plans. The group is committed to integrating green and low-carbon development practices into daily production operations. Moving forward, Sailun Group intends to transparently share its progress in addressing climate change, thereby “actively guiding the tyre and rubber industrial chain towards a greener, lower-carbon direction, and contributing to global sustainable development.”
