Pirelli ready for long, ‘demanding and exciting’ GT racing season

Pirelli will commence its GT racing season with the Bathurst 12-hour race in Australia, the first in a season of 400-plus races in 70 championships on five continents ending in December with the six-hour event in Jeddah. Pirelli will cover these events with a team of more than 200 fitters, engineers and others. The Bathurst opener (16-18 February) is also the opening round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, one Pirelli ranks among the toughest in a year including GT World Championship events in Europe, America, Asia, and Australia; the Macau GP, national and international GT4 series, European GT2, the Ferrari Challenge, the McLaren Trophy and TransAm.
Pirelli will supply GT racing with the P Zero DHF tyre introduced in 2023, which features a wide operating range and a balanced construction. Pirelli says the tyre is more sustainable as a result of digital modelling technology, which reduces the need for physical prototypes by 20 per cent, and the introduction of new types of renewable material to reduce its environmental footprint.
Matteo Braga, head of circuit activity Pirelli, said: “We are about to embark an exciting and demanding season with a strong and motivated team from headquarters and the local markets. We take on this challenge knowing we can count on excellent working relationships and partnerships with federations, promoters, teams, drivers and car manufacturers, that have grown stronger over the years.
“We can also rely on a product that has proved to be versatile and reliable at all circuits and in all conditions. We will use the races to gather data and information useful for future development of our product, which undergoes a state of constant evolution, often ahead of that of the cars which over the years have become more powerful and faster.”
