Xingda Steel Tyre Cord achieves National Green Factory status

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China has released the 2023 Green Manufacturing List, which “prominently features” Xingda Steel Tyre Cord as a National Green Factory, according to the company. The recognition honours the company’s “exceptional achievements in green manufacturing, low-carbon development, and energy management…”.
Xingda reports that it has made “substantial progress” in terms of energy mix optimization. By the end of 2023, Xingda had successfully installed photovoltaic power stations across its three main production bases in Jiangsu, Shandong, and Thailand, collectively generating an impressive 24.9 MV and an annual output of 27 million kWh.
Looking ahead, Xingda plans to expand its renewable energy capacity to 61 MV by the end of 2024, which is expected to yield an annual generation of 67 million kWh.
There has also been progress with energy efficiency. In 2023, the company managed to reduce its energy consumption per unit of production by 5.1 per cent and decrease carbon emissions by 4.5 per cent compared to the previous year. By 2030, the company will fully meet its heat demand through self-generated energy throughout the entire production process.
Moreover, Xingda has implemented a refined carbon emissions management system via its Smart Cloud system.
In 2023, the Company received the Ecovadis Gold Medal, scored an industry-leading B in CDP rating and passed the SBTi certification. It has joined the United Nations Global Compact and has been included in S&P Global’s first issue of “Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition)”.
