US launches sunset review investigation into Chinese-made TBR

On 2 January, the US Department of Commerce announced that it would launch the first anti-dumping and countervailing sunset review investigation into truck and bus tyres (TBR) imported from China.
Stakeholders should register a response to the US Department of Commerce before January 12 (within ten days from the date of the announcement). According to the China Rubber Industry Association, the North American trade union organisation USW (United Steelworkers) has submitted a registration to respond.
At the same time, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) launched a similar damage investigation into truck and bus tyre products made in China. The content of its review is whether Chinese-made truck and bus tyres will “lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury” to the US domestic industry once the existing “anti-dumping and countervailing duty” is lifted.
Stakeholders should submit substantive responses to the case announcement to the ITC before February 1, 2024. All relevant parties can submit comments to the ITC on the adequacy of substantive responses to the case before March 11, 2024.
The China Rubber Industry Association calls on Chinese export companies to find ways to respond. At the same time, the association reminds Chinese companies that they can unite with local US importers as stakeholders to react to this sunset review investigation jointly.
