Pyrum establishes subsidiary for second pyrolysis plant

At the start of January, Pyrum Innovations established a wholly owned subsidiary to operate its second pyrolysis tyre recycling plant. This ‘Pyrum GreenFactory II GmbH’ facility is located in Perl-Besch on the Moselle, in Germany’s Saarland region, and will enter service by the end of 2025. Pyrum has modelled the plant on its main site in nearby Dillingen/Saar, and when operational it will double the company’s recycling capacity to 40,000 tonnes of used tyres per annum. Pyrum says it already starting to order certain plant components – those with “notoriously long delivery times” – in the first quarter of 2024.
Meanwhile, Pyrum has prepared its new ‘TAD2’ recycling line at the Dillingen/Saar plant for final pre-operational tests, heating the reactor up to operating temperature, commencing three weeks of testing under real conditions and with industrial quantities on 18 January. Following a successful conclusion to this test, Pyrum intends to operate the line continuously and further optimise its performance. The pyrolysis specialist intends to ramp-up its ‘TAD’ recycling line for the final phase of warm testing by the end of March 2024.
“While we are finalising the last work for the plant expansion in Dillingen, we are also starting the next chapter in Perl-Besch full of energy thanks to the financing agreement recently concluded with BASF,” says Pascal Klein, chief executive officer of Pyrum Innovations AG. “The second Pyrum-owned plant is to be built there by the end of 2025. We are also in the process of planning further joint plants with our partners across Europe. These developments are not only proof of the success of our unique technology, but also of our willingness to continuously invest in the future of sustainable waste recovery.”
