Obituary: Bruno Göggel

Bruno Göggel, the founder and proprietor of Germany’s largest tyre wholesale business, has passed away. In a statement, Reifen Göggel confirmed that “Bruno Göggel died at the weekend at the age of 62 as a result of cancer. Due to his serious illness, the entrepreneur had already increasingly withdrawn from the day-to-day business last year.”
Sons Wolfgang and Benjamin will now lead the firm. Both have held key positions within Reifen Göggel for several years. “The planned and already completed investments in the tyre wholesale business were determined by Bruno Göggel together with his sons.” The company explains that this precaution of preparing the next generation ensures that Reifen Göggel will be “led into a successful future” together with its long-serving employees.
Bruno Göggel entered the tyre business in 1982 with a fitting station and branched out into the wholesale business in 1988. In 2002, he was one of the first within the local market to recognise the opportunities of an online shop, and company subsequently developed into one of the leading tyre wholesalers in Germany and Europe.
The Reifen Göggel team bids Bruno Göggel farewell with “great gratitude and deep sympathy for his family.” In accordance with the deceased’s wishes, the funeral for Bruno Göggel will be a private affair.
