Nokian Tyres receives EC antitrust inspection

The European Commission has initiated an unannounced inspection at Nokian Tyres plc’s  headquarters in Nokia, Finland. The investigation forms part of the EC’s wider look at tyre manufacturers across several member states:

“The European Commission has expressed its concerns that the inspected tyre manufacturing companies may have violated EU antitrust rules that prohibit cartels and restrictive business practices”, according to an official statement.

Nokian Tyres representatives declined to comment further on the “ongoing investigation”, but did say “Nokian Tyres is fully co-operating with the authorities”, saying:

“Nokian Tyres does not have information on the outcome of the inspection, and it cannot comment on the ongoing investigation. Nokian Tyres is fully co-operating with the authorities.”
