Michelin confirms it has been investigated in EC antitrust case

Following the news that the European Commission has opened a price-fixing investigation across “several member states”, Michelin has officially confirmed that it too has been investigated as part of EC antitrust case. Nokian, Goodyear, Continental, Pirelli and Bridgestone have also been investigated as part of the EC case.
Speaking on behalf of Michelin, a spokesperson told Tyres & Accessories: “The Group emphasizes that it strictly complies with antitrust regulations in all countries where it operates. As a result, Michelin categorically denies the existence of anticompetitive practices such as those mentioned by the European Commission in its communication…and in particular any collaborative price-fixing practices.”
Of course, as with all the companies that have been visited by the EC, inspections must be considered investigatory and should not be considered an indicator of guilt.
