Goodyear visited in European antitrust investigation

Following the news that the European Commission is investigating tyre manufacturers across Europe for anti-competitive practices, we now know that at least Nokian, Continental and now Goodyear have been visited.
Goodyear EMEA’s official statement reads: “We confirm that our European offices were subject to unannounced inspections today by the European authorities. It is too early to speculate as to what exactly may have happened, but we are cooperating fully with the authorities. As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot provide any further information.”
Indeed, the European Commission said in its official statement on the matter: “The fact that the commission carries out such inspections does not mean that the companies are guilty of anti-competitive behaviour, nor does it prejudge the outcome of the investigation itself.”
