Yokohama Rubber restructures Vietnam business for growth
The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. has spun off the sales unit of its Vietnam tyre production and sales subsidiary, Yokohama Tyre Vietnam Inc. (YTVI), into a new dedicated sales company. Established 30 November 2023, Yokohama Tyre Sales Vietnam Co., Ltd. will begin operations as an independent entity on 1 January 2024 with its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City. YTVI will become a dedicated tyre production company.
ASEAN is a high-priority market for Yokohama Rubber, and it regards Vietnam as a growth market within the region. The company first entered Vietnam in November 1997 when setting up a joint venture tyre production and sales company. It established YVTI as a wholly owned subsidiary in May 2006. With demand for radial car and truck tyres rapidly increasing in Vietnam in recent years, Yokohama Rubber has decided that separating production and sales activities is essential to expanding its business in Vietnam.
To date, YTVI has locally produced and sold cross-ply tyres used on motorcycles, small trucks, industrial machinery, and as spare tyres for passenger cars. It has also imported and marketed passenger car and truck radials.
