Prinx Chengshan gains national-level “green factory” rating
The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released its 2023 Green Manufacturing List, and Prinx Chengshan (Shandong) Tire Co. Ltd. was once again awarded the national-level “Green Factory” title. Prinx Chengshan was awarded the first batch of “National Green Factories” in China in 2017. The company reports that it has successively won the national “Green Supply Chain Management Enterprise” and “Industrial Product Green Design Demonstration Enterprise” titles and has participated in several national standards related to the intelligent manufacturing of green tyres in China.
Prinx representatives report that the company has “increased investment in two major green intelligent production bases in China and Thailand, accelerating the construction of a green advanced manufacturing system with green standards, eco-friendly factories, sustainable products, and good environmental practices as its core”.
Among them, the Prinx Shandong Tire Production Base combines PLM and MES systems and implements a lean quality management model with intelligent leadership at its core throughout the product life cycle. This project serves as a pilot for the integration of advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, “showcasing an intelligent manufacturing model that drives the accelerated development of greening and leads the industry to a new stage”, according to the company.
The Shandong base has fully achieved networked energy control, low-carbon energy utilization, clean as well as “purified tyre production, and harmless raw materials”. In water recycling and nitrogen recovery and utilization, it has reached the leading level in the industry. The “National Green Tire Intelligent Factory Standard Application Pilot Project” has been approved as the only national-level “Intelligent Manufacturing Standard Application Pilot Project” in the industry. The base has been the leader in energy efficiency of major energy-consuming products in China’s petroleum and chemical industry for six consecutive years, and has achieved the highest rating (AAA) as a tire enterprise in the Green Development Index for Automobile and Parts Enterprises (GDI).
“We are committed to developing a new generation of low-carbon, eco-friendly, safe, and comfortable high-performance tyre products while achieving on-demand production and rapid iteration. As early as 2021, we obtained certification for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s five major series of green products, leading the industry by achieving 80 per cent product greening”, the company explained in a statement, adding:
“Our Zhianda Intelligent Tire Service relies on ultra-long distance commercial vehicle tyre products and innovatively adopts a model of big data intelligent central control, customized terminal services, and green tyre recycling. This forms an efficient green closed-loop throughout the entire transportation lifecycle.”
High-performance, low rolling resistance, and new energy EV products are also in the portfolio.
Moving forward there are further eco-related plans: “Based on the ESG approach, we will actively implement the national goals of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 to help address global climate change and promote green and sustainable development.”
