Kerr’s Tyres Group acquires GM Tyres
Kerr’s Tyres Group has announced its purchase of GM Tyres in Tandragee, Northern Ireland. The Antrim-based company says this acquisition “marks a significant milestone for Kerr’s Tyres Group” that further solidifies its “commitment to providing proven products and services to its customers.”
According to Kerr’s Tyres Group, the acquisition and the access this provides to GM Tyres’ large motorcycle customer base enables Kerr’s Tyres to broaden its product portfolio while enhancing its distribution network, leveraging synergies to “provide even greater value” to customers.
“We are excited to announce the acquisition of GM Tyres, a move that aligns with our long-term growth strategy and helping us reach our goal of operating 35 points of sale by 2026,” says Richard Livingston, Kerr’s Tyres’ group commercial manager. “This acquisition not only expands our product portfolio into motorcycle tyres but also reinforces our dedication to providing exceptional quality and service to our valued customers.”
Kerr’s Tyres Group says customers can expect a seamless transition during the integration of GM Tyres into its operations. It believes the combined expertise of both companies will result in a “stronger, more versatile organisation, well-equipped to address the diverse demands of the market.”
GM Tyres staff retained
As part of the acquisition, Kerr’s Tyres Group will retain all personnel from GM Tyres, ensuring continuity and building on the acquired company’s existing strengths. By doing so, Kerr’s Tyres aims to preserve the legacy of GM Tyres while driving innovation and excellence by harnessing the collective capabilities of both organisations.
Glenn McAllister, previous owner of GM Tyres, says that “it has been an easy decision to pass my family business on to Kerr’s Tyres Group, a larger business that still retains those important values.”
Kerr’s Tyres Group, which trades as Kerr’s Tyres & Auto, opened in 2002 with a staff of three. Today the company offers a 24-hour, 365 day a year service with a fleet of mobile tyre fitting vans that complement a network of retail tyre centres throughout Ireland. This acquisition will see the company become the third largest tyre provider in Ireland.
