Bridgestone renovates Tianjin factory equipment
Bridgestone has invested 54.73 million yuan upgrading equipment at its Tianjin factory. According to Bridgestone, this transformation will not increase the product categories and production capacity of its Tianjin factory. After the equipment is upgraded, it can support Bridgestone’s Tianjin factory in ensuring stable tyre performance and reducing corporate energy consumption. The renovation project is planned to start construction in December 2023 and be completed and put into production in August 2025.
Bridgestone’s Tianjin plant is mainly engaged in the R&D and production of mid-to-high-end radial tyres for passenger cars and light trucks, with an annual output of 8.4676 million tyres, including 5.316 million ordinary tyre products and 3.1516 million high-end tyre products. Among its high-end tyres, the number of passenger car radial tyres and light truck radial tyres is 2.8016 million and 350,000, respectively.
The factory was formerly known as Tianjin Kumho, a Sino-Korean joint venture. In 2001, Bridgestone acquired the rights to operate the factory and changed its name. Currently, Bridgestone holds 94.47 per cent of the shares of the Tianjin factory.
