Yokohama Advan tyres propel JLOC Lamborghini to GT300 victory in Japanese touring car series
Yokohama’s Advan tyres helped the JLOC Lamborghini GT3, driven by Takashi Kogure and Yuya Motojima, win the GT300 class in the final race, Round 8 of the 2023 Autobacs Super GT Series, held at Mobility Resort Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture on 4 and 5 November, 2023. In Japan’s premier touring car racing series., many teams in the GT300 class equipped their cars with Advan racing tyres this year. These cars won four out of eight races.
Starting from second on the grid, Motojima took the wheel for the first stint, gained the lead early on and then passed the baton on to Kogure. Kogure came out on top in close racing gradually increased the gap on his pursuers to take the chequered flag. This was Kogure’s first victory in the GT300 class and Motojima’s first in the Super GT. The DOBOT Audi R8 LMS, which was fitted with Yokohama tyres and driven by Yoshiaki Katayama and Roberto Merhi Muntan, finished third, taking the podium for the third time this season.
Yokohama wants to increase both the penetration of its flagship UHP Advan brand around the world and its motorsport activities as part of its current five-year plan. The plan positions participation in motorsports activities as crucial to the company’s effort to develop new tyre technologies that will further strengthen the Advan (and Geolandar) brands.
