Michelin plans to massively expand Shanghai tyre factory
Recently, Michelin CEO Florent Menegaux said in an interview in Shanghai that Michelin’s factory in Shanghai will soon expand production on a large scale.
It is reported that on November 5, Florent Menegaux appeared at the 6th China International Import Expo. According to a report by China Economic Network, Florent Menegaux mentioned, “I firmly believe that China’s big market is a big opportunity for the world.”
Currently, Michelin has tyre manufacturing plants in Shenyang and Shanghai, China. In addition, the tyre manufacturer also has a tyre retreading plant in Shanghai.
In 2021, Michelin’s Shenyang factory dismantled three TBR vulcanisation production lines, reducing annual production capacity from 1.8 million to 1.1 million. Then, the tyre manufacturer plans to use the remaining power of the mixing production line to increase PCR production and has launched a 1.3 million PCR project. After the expansion, the PCR vulcanisation capacity of Michelin’s Shenyang plant will be 17.3 million units annually.
