Giant tyre production begins at Sailun’s Vietnam factory

Following the production of the first giant tyre in its plant in Vietnam on 18 November, Sailun Group says its factories outside China are now equipped to manufacture a full range of PCR, TBR and OTR products.

We’re told that Sailun laid the foundation stone for this project in December 2022. After completing “initial marketing and sales planning, product development and design, equipment selection and manufacturing implementation, on-site installation and commissioning, and trial production,” the project has officially entered volume production. Sailun states that its facility is the first in Vietnam to produce giant tyres.

Sailun Group has not disclosed the capacity of its Vietnam plant’s giant tyre production unit. In its 2022 annual report, the company said that “in the third phase of the Vietnam project, the 50,000-tonne per annum OTR tyre project has been basically completed.” The same report showed that Sailun’s Vietnam plant added 10,000 tonnes of OTR tyre capacity in 2022, with 40,000 tonnes of capacity under construction.
