Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister visits Wanli Tire
From 20-21 October, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol visited Guangdong Province to communicate with companies operating there. Tyrepress China noticed that Sun Chanthol visited tyre manufacturer Wanli during that process.
Subsequently, the parent company of Wanli Tire, Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. (Guangzhou Industrial Control), issued a news release stating that “the two parties had a cordial and friendly exchange on Wanli’s future strategic deployment plan”, and “Wanli Tire will consider building a factory in Cambodia”.
Jing Guangjun, vice chairman and general manager of Guangzhou Industrial Control, said at the meeting that “Wanli Tire will accelerate its investment plan to open an automobile tyre factory in Cambodia”.
Wanli Tire’s information shows that it has three production bases in China. Among them, the current planned production capacity of the factory in Conghua, Guangzhou, is 24 million semi-steel radial tyres, 2.4 million all-steel radial tyres, and 4 million motorcycle tyres.
As early as 2017, there was news that Wanli wanted to build tyre factories overseas. Previously, the company had considered building factories in the United States and Vietnam, but they are yet to enter a substantive stage.
