Apollo celebrates Vredestein Quatrac’s strong performance in Auto Express all-season tyre test
Apollo Tyres is celebrating the achievement of its latest Vredestien Quatrac all-season tyre, after the product secured second place in the 2023 Auto Express All Season Tyre Test. Developed for mid-sized family cars and SUVs, the Quatrac was given a ’Recommended’ rating alongside the winning Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3, having proved its all-round performance in all conditions – it was top in braking on snow and in the wet, while it only dropped one place in the dry braking test, emphasising its safety credentials. Overall, it was just 0.1 per cent behind the winner. The Quatrac could also be called a value champion, acquired for a price around 20 per cent cheaper than the winning tyre.
“The Vredestein brand played a key role in bringing the first all-season tyres to market three decades ago, and we have invested heavily to maintain our reputation for class-leading performance and affordability in the category ever since,” comments Yves Pouliquen, group head of sales and marketing at Apollo Tyres. “The Auto Express test is yet another impressive result for the Quatrac, underlining the continued dedication and focus of our European R&D team.”
Auto Express evaluated eight different 225/45 R17 all-season products from leading European tyre manufacturers fitted to a Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Dry and wet testing was conducted at the TRIWO facility in Pferdsfeld Germany, where the Quatrac impressed with its “liveliness” and “safe, front-limited balance that kept the rear stable but without needing extra lock.” In the dry, the Quatrac delivered good grip and balance, especially in longer turns. It also performed well for comfort, being placed third for cabin noise.
In the snow test phase in Sweden, the Quatrac taking top spot for braking and winning praise for its performance around the challenging handling circuit.
