Market debut for Apollo Tyres’ A-rated LHT tyre
Almost a year after presenting its first dedicated Long-Haul Trailer (LHT) tyre, Apollo Tyres has commenced deliveries of the Apollo EnduMile LHT. The tyre maker says EnduMile LHT provides “impressive levels of performance across the board,” including an A-rating for rolling resistance – a first for an Apollo Tyres truck tyre.
EnduMile LHT is the most fuel-efficient truck tyre ever produced by Apollo Tyres anywhere in the world and has been developed to “outperform the market’s best-performing LHT tyres.” The ‘free-rolling’ tread pattern, designed specifically for trailer axles, incorporates a compact centre rib to assist roadholding and ensure efficient operation while achieving an A-rating for road noise. The tyre’s casing is of course retreadable.
Apollo Tyres shares that EnduMile LHT features a broad and stable contact patch which optimises pressure distribution. The tyre compound is an all-new blend of polymers and fillers that minimise rolling resistance while delivering consistent levels of grip on wet surfaces. The compound also helps to manage temperature changes during prolonged use – the tyre maker says this helps maintain “superior performance characteristics” and aids durability.
Growing customer demand
After a two-year test process led by the company’s Netherlands-based European R&D team and employing both virtual and real-world tyres, Apollo Tyres is manufacturing EnduMile LHT at its production facility in Gyöngyöshalász, Hungary.
“There has been growing demand from customers for Apollo to launch a tyre of this type, and its breadth of capabilities gives us cause to be optimistic about it taking sales from well-established rivals,” comments John Nikhil Joy, cluster director Europe – Truck & Bus Tyres, at Apollo Tyres. “Our R&D team has worked tirelessly to develop a tyre that has extremely low levels of rolling resistance while supporting vehicle range, driving performance and long-term durability – three key areas for the long-haul market.”
