Hankook supplies Ventus S1 evo 3 ev to Hyundai Ioniq 6
Hyundai has opted to fit Hankook’s Ventus S1 evo 3 ev tyres to its Ioniq 6 as standard. The tyre is developed specifically for electric cars, featuring low rolling resistance and a lightweight, robust construction to meet the specific requirements of all-electric vehicles, such as the Ioniq 6. The tyre is supplied in size 225/55R18W.
“We are very pleased with the confidence Hyundai has shown in our premium tyres, and that the Ventus S1 evo 3 ev will be used in its new top electric model,” says Sanghoon Lee, president of Hankook Tire Europe. “With this development, we are not only extending Hankook’s original equipment business, but also further advancing the transformation towards electric mobility.”
Hankook’s strategic focus on EV tyres involves specially developed products with reduced rolling resistance and higher load indexes. For the Hyundai Ioniq 6, Hankook says it particularly needed to support a high range of 550km-plus per full battery charge. Hankook added a double-layer carcass made of a special high-performance fibre for improved stability at a very low weight relative to its size. The Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 ev’s tread compound is specially designed for the high drive torques of electric vehicles too, promoting grip on wet and dry surfaces in addition to the tyre’s other features.
