Continental tyres OE on BYD Seal
Export models of the new BYD Seal are leaving the factory on Continental EcoContact 6 Q tyres. BYD has approved the Continental tyre in 235/45 R19 99V XL as original equipment for numerous markets, including the UK and Ireland.
Continental specifically developed the EcoContact 6 Q for energy-saving and noise-optimised driving, including fitment on electric vehicles. The tyre features a rubber compound that minimises energy absorption while the vehicle is in motion and, in turn, reduces friction and rolling resistance. The tyre maker’s development team has also optimised the tread to reduce rolling noise. Continental says that in addition to short braking distances, the EcoContact 6 Q offers exceptional grip on dry and wet roads and excellent cornering stability even at high speeds.
Tyre developers at Continental have worked to lower rolling resistance and ride noise and increase product longevity – without compromising safety – for more than ten years now. Continental states that the result of these efforts is that all its tyres “not only fulfil the specific needs of electric vehicles but also help to reduce combustion engine emissions in the long term.” As evidence of this approach’s success, the manufacturer notes that as of 2022, nine of the ten “most successful manufacturers of electric vehicles worldwide” chose Continental as their original equipment manufacturer.
