Capacity for 60% more tyres – Tiresur begins warehouse project
Tiresur, a major distributor of passenger vehicle, commercial and off-highway tyres in the Iberian Peninsula, has begun work on its sixth warehouse. When completed, the 20,000 square metre facility in the Spanish city of Burgos will provide storage for more than 450,000 tyres and boast 20 loading bays. The wholesaler says this new facility will bring it even closer to customers within the region and in Europe.
Foundations laid within the Villalonquéjar industrial estate in Burgos this month provide a base for the building that will be erected during the first project phase; this includes 10,000 square metres of floorspace and 12 loading bays. At the start of work, company president Antonio Mañas stated that Tiresur is “redoubling” its commitment to the tyre distribution market. He added that the new warehouse “positions us geographically, in terms of service, availability and proximity to our customers as the best option.”
The Burgos site will join four Tiresur logistics centres in Spain, located in Granada, Getafe, Barcelona and Santiago de Compostela, as well as a warehouse in Lisbon. These facilities offer a total storage area of more than 45,000 square metres, equalling a total volume of available stock of more than 750,000 multi-segment tyres.
Founded in 1934 in Granada, Spain, where its headquarters are located, Tiresur is also present in Portugal, Brazil and Panama, trading in Central and South America as Global Pneus.
