Bridgestone ends TBR production at Rangsit plant
Bridgestone Corporation completed the consolidation of its tyre manufacturing operation in Thailand today with the end of truck and bus radial production at its Rangsit plant. Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co. Ltd’s Chonburi facility has taken over this production capacity.
This milestone means the end of the road for the Rangsit plant in Pathum Thani Province, which opened in 1967 and held the capacity to produce approximately 2,100 truck and bus radials daily at the end of last year. The site employed 1,070 people as of 30 September 2023.
The Rangsit plant previously made both truck/bus and passenger vehicle tyres. Passenger radial production capacity stood at 2,280 tyres a day at the end of 2021, prior to Bridgestone’s consolidation of this into the Nong Khae plant operated by Thai Bridgestone Co. Ltd., a transition completed on 30 June 2022.
“The company would like to express its sincere gratitude to the employees and the supportive local community of the Rangsit plant, which is the groundbreaking base of Bridgestone’s tyre business in Thailand,” wrote Bridgestone in a statement. “To minimise the impact on the employees and local communities affected by the cessation of tyre manufacturing operations at the Rangsit plant, the company is taking appropriate measures in accordance with local laws and regulations, as well as labour agreements.”
