Pirelli ending WRC tyre supply after 2024
After serving as sole tyre supplier to the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) since 2021, Pirelli will pass on the baton at the end of next season. The tyre maker has announced having “not submitted its candidature” to supply WRC from 2025-2027. As a result, Pirelli will conclude its partnership as a single supplier to the WRC in 2024.
Although not giving specific reasons for deciding against continuing as WRC sole tyre supplier, Pirelli comments that it has already “achieved the targets set three years ago at the start of the current contact.” The company also says it “remains committed to rallying” and will continue its participation in all the other rally competitions in which it is currently involved.
Pirelli is currently present in more than 350 motorsport championships around the world, including the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC). The ERC is organised by the same promoter as the WRC and involves multiple tyre suppliers. Pirelli is also present in more than 40 national rally championships worldwide, as well as a wide variety of other events for modern and historic rally cars.
