Intec signs Egyptian tyre recycling MoU
In mid-September, Major General Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), announced that the organisation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with German tyre recycling firm Intec Rubber Powder GmbH.
Major General Latif stressed the deal forms part of the implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to “advance local manufacturing and exploit national manufacturing capabilities to deepen local manufacturing and transfer and localize modern technology, in partnership with global industrial expertise, in a way that contributes to working on reducing imports and increasing the added value of Egyptian products.”
The MoU between AOI and Intec as well as Recom Patent & License GmbH was signed as part of the first Environmental and Climate Investment Forum in Egypt.
Major General Latif confirmed that the Arab Organization for Industrialization is keen to “establish fruitful strategic partnerships, and is looking forward to strengthening cooperation with major international German specialized companies to begin establishing a factory in a joint partnership to recycle tyres for all types of vehicles.”
Becoming a regional centre for tyre recycling
He explained that the project is a “step on the right path to promoting this type of local investment, so that Egypt becomes a regional centre for recycling car tyres and vehicles of all types in accordance with international quality specifications, and also enhances cooperation with African and Arab countries…”
He added that all executive steps are being taken to establish the factory, explaining that this cooperation provides many job opportunities for young engineers and technicians and training on the latest technology in accordance with the standards of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
For their part, senior officials of the two German companies expressed, their appreciation for this cooperation with the AOI “with this agreement we aim to establish long-term joint partnerships, through cooperation with the Arab Organization for Industrialization, the industrial backbone of the Egyptian state”.
“This cooperation will represent a great addition to the Egyptian economy, especially since we will work to design and manufacture advanced smart systems for recycling vehicle tyres of various types with Egyptian thought and creativity and with the national manufacturing capabilities of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, which contributes to achieving sustainable development and various development projects”, they added.
