Halfords wins Yodel tyre supply deal
Yodel, one of the UK’s leading parcel carriers, has awarded a five-year tyre management contract to Halfords Commercial Fleet Services. Halfords Commercial Fleet Services’ position as the UK’s largest commercial service network with 104 depots and over 500 dedicated mobile vans was cited as a major factor behind decision.
Greg Ward commercial sales director for Halfords said: “We’re delighted to be awarded Yodel’s tyre contract. They are operating over 1700 rigid truck, tractor units and trailers all over the UK and we’re looking forward to working with their fleet team and developing a strong partnership with them.”
Yodel’s senior category buyer Holly Jones said: “We are pleased to have agreed this new tyre management contract with Halfords. It will ensure that Yodel will receive best in class tyre management from Halfords Commercial Fleet Services.”
Yodel, handles over 190 million parcels every year and has a relationship with 85 per cent of the UK’s top retailers. The company is headquartered in Liverpool and has over 50 locations across the UK.
On 6 September, Halfords Group plc reported “strong trading across the group with total revenue up +14.1 per cent”. According to the 20-week trading update, that growth was “driven by” Autocentres (+34.6%) and Retail (+3.7%). Furthermore, B2B sales reportedly accounted for 29 per cent of group revenue (+5ppts YOY), with the Commercial Fleet Services bringing a key part of that performance. Indeed, news of the Yodel deal was important enough to be singled out in the 20-week trading statement:
“Following the Lodge Tyre acquisition in October 2022, our enlarged Commercial Fleet Service business has won a significant nationwide contract – with Yodel, the UK parcel carrier, providing service support for its entire UK truck and van fleet”, executives wrote.
Looking back through Tyrepress.com’s archives reveals that Michelin and ATS Euromaster previously serviced the Yodel contract.
