GT Radial extends winter tyre range with new WinterPro2 ‘evo’, ‘Sport’ variants
GT Radial is delivering the latest extensions to its winter tyre line, the WinterPro2 evo and the WinterPro2 Sport, to European dealers preparing for the 2023/24 winter season. The GT Radial WinterPro2 evo arrives in 44 sizes with rims ranging from 13-17”, section widths from 155-245 and series sizes from 50-80. Manufacturer Giti Tire has introduced another 14 sizes to its winter tyre for performance vehicles, the GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport, bringing the total number to 23. The GT Radial brand is distributed exclusively by Micheldever Tyre Services in the UK.
The GT Radial WinterPro2 evo replaces the WinterPro2. The tyre’s new compound delivers an 8 per cent improvement in wet braking, 5 per cent in wet handling and 3-4 per cent in dry handling, according to Giti’s testing. The manufacturer adds that these results have been achieved without effecting the original’s highly regarded snow and ice performances. Designed to deliver traction on snow, grip on wet roads and short braking distances, the tyre assures mileage and comfort for passenger car and smaller CUV and SUV vehicles.
The GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport is designed for drivers of high-powered passenger cars and premium SUVs who are looking for handling and retained sporty driving in snow, rims now range from 17-19”, section widths from 205-245 and series sizes from 35-65.
Features include a scimitar shape directional profile with sharp edges for improved grip on snow and wet roads, and large shoulder blocks with multi T-bars for stability and a precise UHP handling experience. Ultra-wide grooves provide fast water evacuation for firm braking and optimised deep traction sipes deliver high performance snow traction and braking. A fine-tuned compound, profile and construction reduces rolling resistance for improved fuel saving, without any compromise in driving safety.
Both tyres carry the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol for approved fitment in markets with laws governing winter tyre use.
Fabio Pecci-Boriani, senior product manager PCR, SUV, Light Truck for Giti Tire (Europe), said: “With the ‘evo’ upgrade our engineers have managed to improve significantly the wet and dry performances of our main winter product while retaining the mileage and snow performances that were clearly appreciated by our customers. This was no small task.
“Furthermore, we have strengthened the offer for sports cars and large SUV vehicles in the popular GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport pattern, with many new sizes including 235/35R19 which will be warmly welcomed by drivers of compact hot hatches.
“With our latest products we deliver the right tyre to ensure that drivers can continue to enjoy their vehicles and drive safely even during the cold and slippery winter months.”
The GT Radial WinterPro2 evo and GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport were designed and engineered by Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, Germany.
