Bridgestone’s Gerry Duffy retires
Gerry Duffy has retired from Bridgestone after a career with the company spanning 36 years. A statement issued by Bridgestone Mining Solutions Australia (BMSA) shares that Duffy, who was chief executive officer of the business, has been succeeded by Tadashi Masamune.
“While it is sad to be leaving BMSA, it’s been an honour to finish up my Bridgestone career by leading such an excellent company and great people,” states Duffy. “I’m delighted that my successor in the CEO role is the highly experienced and forward-looking Tadashi Masamune, while the Sales and Operations heart of the company is also strongly reinforced with Andy Davies taking the lead following successful management of Bridgestone operations across Europe and Asia.”
Duffy adds that “in conjunction with Rene Allenbach’s continuous leadership of Support Services, BMSA leadership is well equipped for the challenges ahead as we strive to bring further value to all our stakeholders, most importantly our customers.”
Gerry Duffy’s career with Bridgestone began in the UK. He joined Bridgestone Europe in 1996 and initially held several field engineering roles before progressing to sales and marketing. He was appointed director of Bridgestone’s commercial and off-road tyre original equipment business in 2006, and two years later became Bridgestone Europe’s vice-president of sales and marketing. Duffy took on responsibility for the German, Austrian and Swiss markets in October 2010 and became managing director of Bridgestone Europe’s Central Region through reorganisation measures undertaken at Bridgestone Europe a year later. In May 2015 he took on leadership of Bridgestone Aircraft Tire Company (Asia) Ltd and he commenced his role in BMSA in December 2020.
