Bayman leaves Goodyear EMEA consumer presidency, Anckaert promoted
3-and-a-half years after joining Goodyear EMEA, the company’s President Consumer Europe, Hakan Bayman, has left the company.
Bayman’s departure was first announced in Turkish media on 20 August, but was confirmed roughly a fortnight later by Bayman himself on social media around 7 September: “My time at Goodyear as President Consumer Europe in GY EMEA came to an end.”
While Bayman’s decision to leave was clearly made before Goodyear’s latest round of EMEA job cuts was announced on 6 September, it is not clear whether the two events are connected.
What we do know is that David Anckaert, who has been Goodyear Vice President Consumer Replacement Europe since April 2020, is now being referred to as Vice President Consumer EMEA by Goodyear EMEA.
Reflecting on his time with Goodyear, Bayman wrote of the unprecedented season in which he held his Goodyear tenure: “I joined Goodyear, one of my iconic childhood brands, 3.5 years ago in an unprecedented time. pandemic, semiconductor shortage, recession in Europe”, adding: “I have brought my 20 years of tyre end-to-end experience in different continents, regions, markets and cultures. And continued to learn, built experiences and network.”
That experience began with Bridgestone at the company’s Brisa joint venture in Turkey in 2002 and led onto various senior sales and marketing roles across Bridgestone EMEA, EMIA and at the company’s Tokyo headquarters.
Regarding the future, Bayman wrote: “I will enjoy my first budget/planning-free September in my last 30 years and then I will continue to do what I am good at”. Since the vast majority of career has been within the tyre business, that sounds like a hint that he will return to a new role in the tyre sector in or around October.
