USTMA expecting lower tyre shipments in 2023
The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA), the trade body representing 12 tyre makers who operate 58 tyre-related manufacturing facilities in the USA, projects that its members will ship 325.4 million tyres in 2023. This figure represents a 2.0 per cent decrease on the 332 million units delivered in 2022 and is also 2.2 per cent lower than pre-pandemic 2019, when US tyre shipments totalled 332.7 million units.
Compared with 2022, Original equipment shipments for passenger, light truck and truck tyres are expected to change by 5.6, -0.5, and 0.0 per cent respectively, with a total increase of 2.3 million units. Replacement passenger, light truck and truck tyre shipments are also projected to change by -1.5, -3.6, and -16.0 per cent respectively, with a total decrease of 8.9 million units.
