Steve Nash inducted into The Motoring Hall of Fame
Steve Nash, CEO of the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) added to the The Motoring Hall of Fame in recognition of the important work he has carried out leading the professional body. The Motoring Hall of Fame, whose official partner is The British Motor Show, recognises individuals and businesses that have made a valuable contribution to the wider automotive industry, especially in improving safety and diversity and inspiring innovation. Steve Nash has been inducted alongside: Dr Andy Palmer, former CEO, Aston Martin and COO, Nissan; Linda Jackson CEO, Citreon 2014 – 2020 and CEO at Peugeot since 2021; and Vera Park ex-Infiniti/Nissan/Renault and now lead exterior designer, Jaguar Land Rover.
From the start of his tenure as CEO in 2012, Steve Nash has had the vision to understand the serious implications of an under-qualified workforce across all parts of the sector. He has championed investment in skills training, from apprenticeships to continuous professional development, to ensure the sector is future-proofed for the emerging motoring technologies such as connected and autonomous as well as electric.
Some of Steve Nash’s other important achievements in this role include spearheading the establishment of the IMI TechSafe professional recognition that is now endorsed by the Government Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), widening the membership of the IMI to include free access for students and sponsoring the IMI Diversity Task Force to address the skills gap in the automotive workforce. IMI membership under Nash’s leadership has grown from around 10,000 to over 90,000.
“I am honoured to be inducted into The Motoring Hall of Fame, placed alongside some truly great names in the industry,” commented Steve Nash. “The British Motor Show is the biggest event of its kind in the UK, so to be presented with this accolade at the show amongst so many industry colleagues and genuine automotive enthusiasts is a real privilege.”
