OE-only Europe launch for Pirelli Scorpion MS

Pirelli has introduced a new high-performance all-season tyre for the latest SUV models, but European motorists will get to know Pirelli Scorpion MS solely as an original equipment fitment. The first OEM customer in the region is Maserati, who will equip its all-electric SUV Grecale Folgore with Scorpion MS tyres as either a size 255/50 R19 all around fitment or 25545 R20 at the front and 295/40 R20 at the rear.

Scorpion MS succeeds the Scorpion Verde All Season and Scorpion Zero All Season, and Pirelli shares that the new tyre embodies its Eco Safety Design philosophy, which “which combines the highest safety standards with reduced environmental impact.” The tyre maker says this can be witnessed in generational improvements in wet and dry grip as well as lower rolling resistance. Pirelli also considers Scorpion MS suitable for “light off-road usage and driving in snowy conditions,” however the tyre is not 3PMSF marked.

Although Pirelli claims to have engineered Scorpion MS to “cater to the needs of different countries” with a focus on mileage for American drivers and comfort for Asian markets, don’t rush to your tyre dealer to buy a set. While an aftermarket version of Scorpion MS will arrive from 2024 in the APAC region, Pirelli will satisfy replacement demand in UK and European markets with “the other tyres in the Scorpion range.”
