New name for former Continental Russia plant
With holding company S8 Capital having acquired the assets of Continental AG in Russia, the LLC Continental Kaluga (ООО Континентал Калуга) tyre manufacturing facility has been renamed LLC Cordiant Kaluga (ООО Кордиант Калуга). The new legal name came into force on 17 August 2023 and the business will, in particular, be responsible for tyre production at the former Continental plant in Kaluga, some 100 miles southwest of Moscow.
Continental’s Supervisory Board approved an initial investment of 240 million in its Kaluga plant project in April 2011. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by chief executive office Elmar Degenhart and Kaluga region Governor Anatoly Artamonov in the tyre maker’s hometown of Hannover Germany in July 2011 and the plant’s foundation stone was laid that November. Operations at the Kaluga plant began in 2013.
S8 Capital acquired 100 per cent shareholding in tyre maker Cordiant from its management owners in May 2023. Cordiant operates two facilities in the Omsk region of Russia and a third in Yaroslavl.
