Marangoni introduces new Ringer machinery series
Marangoni has completely revised its Ringtread System equipment with a range that offers retreaders the benefit of modularity. Known as Ringer, these machines draw upon the proven technology of the Ringtreader and Ringbuilder units they replace. Marangoni is currently installing the first Ringer units at customer sites in Europe, including the new top-of-the-line Ringer 3003, which – like the Ringbuilder 3003 before it – features a CTC cushion gum extruder, two spindles as well as ten jaws or divaricator fingers.
Ronny Dietsch, senior sales manager at Marangoni Retreading Systems, considers modularity and component standardisation the key advantages of the new Ringer series. This modularity allows retreaders to expand entry-level machines even after they’ve begun operating them.
Retrofittable design
The entry-level unit for applying rings upon tyre casings is called Ringer 2000 and is technologically based on the previous Ringbuilder 3003 with its ten jaws (instead of the eight fitted to the Ringbuilder 3000). The Ringer 2000 visually differs from its siblings due to the absence of a CTC cushion gum extruder and a spindle tower and is in this respect comparable to the previous Ringtreader 2000. But thanks to the modular design of Ringer machinery, these two important, efficiency-improving features can be retrofitted.
Order a Ringer with a CTC cushion gum extruder and you’ll receive the Ringer 2500, a machine comparable to the previous Ringbuilder 2500. Add the spindle tower, which enables the machine to simultaneously apply cushion gum and a ring (on a second casing), and the machine becomes the Ringer 3003. Machines with a strip-winding extruder such as that introduced on the Ringbuilder Saturn 3000 will reportedly no longer be available in the new Ringer series.
Embracing modernity
According to Ronny Dietsch, the first Ringer machines are already in place within customer facilities. For example, Volánbusz Hungary – with more than 6,000 buses the country’s largest operator – recently brought a Ringer 2000 into operation at its retreading plant in Györ. The company had been using a Ringtreader 1000 there for over two decades and this unit “served us well,” as technical plant manager Tamás Kovács puts it. “But it’s time to embrace modernity” and step into a “more sophisticated era of retreading.”
Kovács says the presence of ten jaws on the Ringer 2000 as opposed to the old Ringtreader’s eight results in a “more balanced ring arrangement on the casing.” To ensure a smooth transition from one machine to the other, representatives of the Hungarian retreading partner visited Marangoni’s production facilities in Italy prior to the Ringer 2000’s installation.
A Marangoni customer in Finland also recently began working with the new flagship Ringer 3003, while a Ringer 2500 will go into operation at another European customer in the near future.
