Kirkby shows Double Coin and Sailun tyres at Road Transport Expo 2023

In the truck tyre segment, Kirkby Tyres reports that the company continues to “differentiate and invest in quality brands rather than operating at the budget end of the market, which at times is nothing more than a race to the bottom.”

Talking to Tyres & Accessories in light of Road Transport Expo 2023, company representatives said: “We believe in bringing to market innovative products that offer real long-term value and provide the opportunity for our customers (fitting companies and service providers) to differentiate their own product offering to their customers (fleets and owner-operators). This in turn allows our customers to offer a value-added product and have the potential to increase the profitability of their own operations.”

Double Coin stand

With that in mind, Kirkby Tyres chose to invest in a Double Coin-branded stand, positioned inside the main exhibition hall: “Continuing our campaign which we had promoted earlier in the year, entitled, ‘reasons to choose premium economy and steer clear of budget’, we aimed to showcase the pioneering history, quality, and innovation behind the brand.”

Some of the more popular patterns from within the Double Coin range were on disply, including the Schmitz Cargobull-approved RT910 trailer tyre and the RLB468, a brand-new regional/long-haul drive-position tyre, with a modern tread design.

In total, six Double Coin tyres, covering drive, steer and all-position fitments including regional and long-haul applications could be seen. All tyres were fitted to Kirkby Tyres’ own Protector range of wheels. These wheels are all TUV SUD accredited and exclusively available from Kirkby Tyres.

Visitors were also informed of multiple casing life guarantee provided by the manufacturer and current retreading activity across the UK and Ireland. According to the company, “This is further evidence of the quality of Double Coin tyres and a clear indication that they offer a much better value proposition than other Asian or Indian imported product.”

Sailun Stand

Kirkby Tyres also hosted a Sailun stand in a prominent position inside the exhibition hall. Here the company showcased a range of popular Sailun fitments, covering several commercial applications, including trailer and tipper trucks working in construction industries. Again, the focus was to push the quality message and to highlight the engineering prowess and research and development resources that are invested into the brand.

“We took the opportunity to introduce visitors to the stand to the new EcoPoint3 technology and the benefits it will bring to hauliers, operators, and fleets”, company representatives explained.

In commercial truck applications, TUV SUD testing has shown that EcoPoint3 tyres can save between 2-7 litres of fuel per 100 km compared to premium competitors. Extrapolated at 200,000 km per year, this would save drivers a minimum of 4,000 litres of fuel and reduce their carbon footprint by 10.6 metric tonnes of CO2. EcoPoint3 TBR tyres with their improved labelling results will be available exclusively from Kirkby Tyres in the UK & Ireland.

On display at RTX 2023 were six tyres from Kirkby’s Sailun catalogue, all fitted to Protector truck wheels, covering drive, steer and all-position fitments including regional and long-haul applications. With more than 90 SKUs now made available to the UK and Irish markets, including the TUV-accredited SDR1 Drive pattern, substantial materials including catalogues and data sheets were made available from the stand, backed-up with technical advice from our colleagues.
