Hankook exhibiting its iON tyre family at the London EV Show

Hankook will showcase its iON range of specialist electric vehicle tyres at the London EV Show (28-30 November, ExCel London, Stand number ES11). The London EV Show is the largest international trade show and conference focused on the electric vehicle industry in Europe. Hankook launched the iON range in 2022, tyres with a technological emphasis on EVs leading to reduced rolling resistance, low noise, and high resilience. This means that compared to conventional tyres, the tyres offer increased range per battery charge. Hankook iON products are also designed for the high torque immediately produced by powerful electric vehicles. Overall this means a better driving experience for EV drivers.

In 2023, the iON evo summer tyre was named the winner of Auto Bild’s “Reifencheck” tyre test, based on its top performance and excellent safety characteristics. The iON range was also recognised as a leading product specialist product line for electric cars by WhatTyre, winning a Highly Recommended awards in the Electric Car Tyre of the Year category.

Hankook’s focus on EV tyres also came to the racetrack in the last year as it became the exclusive technical partner and tyre supplier of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The iON race tyre combines sustainability and performance, having been developed in close cooperation with the series to meet sustainability requirements, without compromising motorsport performance. Nearly 30 per cent of the new tyre, which is specially tailored to the third generation of Formula E race cars, is made of sustainable materials.

Consumers will benefit from racing developments, Hankook says. Its findings from the racetrack flow into the production tyres of the iON product family, which includes summer and winter patterns with an all-season version, due to arrive at the end of 2023.
